One of the priorities of the Trustees is that children should be able to read and use the books they are given. Most schools find that the younger children are not yet ready to read the full “Rainbow Good News Bible” and choose the “The Children's Bible” for all pupils from Year 2 upwards, or for everyone in Years 2-5, with the Rainbow Bible for the older pupils in Year 6. In subsequent years, with our follow-on scheme, we can arrange for each child in the new Year 2 to receive The Children's Bible, and for the new Year 6 (who have previously received the “The Children’s Bible”) a copy of the “Rainbow Good News Bible”. We have made a presentation to over 950 primary schools and our feedback and experience show that the younger children are so attracted by The Children's Bible that they want to read it cover to cover, and choose to do so in their own time. This increases their knowledge and also their general literacy skills. Whatever the choice, we feel that it is important that every child in the same class has the same book as it facilitates class projects, and the setting of homework tasks. Details of the two Bibles can be seen by clicking on "Details of Bibles" in the menu on the left. From September 2009, the Welsh edition of The Children's Bible, "Beibl y Plant", will be available. The page numbering and layout of pictures and text is identical with the English edition.
