Bibles for Children was founded by Ted Hudson to advance the understanding of the Christian religion through the provision of Bibles and Bible related materials to Primary School children and their schools. It has three Trustees who meet six times a year. It was established by a charitable trust deed and registered with the Charity Commissioners of England and Wales on 4th July 1997 (number 1063200), and with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator in December 2006 (number SCO37757). During its first fourteen years of operation, the charity provided Children's Bibles to 300,000 pupils in over 1,300 schools in 125 Local Education Authorities throughout England, Wales and Scotland. The most popular book is The Children's Bible, which is designed to give children of Primary school age the best possible introduction to the Bible. It contains almost 300 stories from the Bible written in simple sentences, and printed in large type with lively, colourful illustrations on most of its 400 pages in quality binding. A Welsh edition, Beibl y Plant, of identical design and page numbering, is also available The Rainbow Good News Bible is widely used in schools with young people. It is in simple everyday language, with an introduction to each book of the Bible, 12 maps, Bible History charts, 16 full colour illustrations and 324 line drawings. The number of children who can freely receive these Bibles to keep is only limited by the willingness of Head teachers to ask for a presentation, and the generosity of supporters of the charity to raise funds.
